Decoding IB Curriculum: Learner Agency by Design

2019年11月15日,第三届IB教育中国论坛“激发能动性——让学生成为学习的主人”如期而至。

On November 15th, 2019. The third IB China Education Forum entitled – ‘Student Agency by Design’ was held.

本届论坛主旨围绕IB倡导“以学生为中心的教育”,旨在给在中国实施IB项目的老师们提供学习者社区平台。

The forum focused on a student-centred IB education providing a learner community platform for IB teachers in China.

维多利亚浦东园作为本次论坛的分会场,汇集了200多名海内外知名教育实践者、学者及专业人士,维多利亚中国教育集团总校长孔美琪博士亲自莅临分会场现场。Victoria Pudong campus was invited to lead the sub-forum and received over 200 educators and experts from home and abroad. The Chief Principal of Victoria (China) Education Group Dr. Maggie Koong was present at the school.

徐红蕾园长先以《“尊重、协作、支持”打造一座具有国际情怀的学习者社区》为题拉开了此次论坛的序幕。随后我园的PYP课程协调员方程琦老师和Leander老师以《构建以学习者为中心的-IB融合课程》为标题向来宾们介绍了我园的课程。Principal of Pudong Victoria Holly Xu gave an opening speech Ms. Leander introduced the school curriculum and discussed ‘Developing A Learner-Centred IB Integrated Curriculum’.

我园自2005年开设IB课程,是上海最早一批开设IB国际课程的幼儿园。不仅融合了上海二期课改的课程,还引进了哥伦比亚大学的早期阅读课程。中英文教师在相互合作中形成了兼具国际情怀和本土特色的园本课程,为培养幼儿将来成为具有国际情怀的“世界公民”打下良好的基础。Pudong Victoria was one of earliest schools in the mainland China which started implementing the IB curriculum since 2005. The curriculum not only integrates Shanghai’s Second Reformed Curriculum, but also Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project from Columbia University. Therefore it incorporates both the international and Chinese characteristics and is taught through collaborative teaching between the Chinese and English teachers.

随后来宾们参观了幼儿园的整体环境、硬件设施、区角环境创设等,富有创意的环境布置、充足的区域活动材料,让在场的教育同行们啧啧称赞,纷纷驻足拍照。

Later the visitors observed the school environment, facilities, and classroom learning corners.

特别是我园的个别化学习区域活动给来宾们留下了深刻的印象。孩子们在区域活动中自主选择,通过操作、探究、合作等形式,有条不紊地进行着自主探究活动。教师们通过不同区域中多样化的材料投放和富有趣味性的游戏设计,不仅丰富了孩子们相关的知识经验,也有效地激发了孩子们的能动性。Children showed our guests how they carried out individualized learning activities. Given the free choices, they were able to engage in diverse learning activities that involved operation, investigation, and cooperation etc. The activities and materials stimulated children’s agency and learning.

观摩活动结束后,我园受到了来自全球的教育同行和专家们的一致好评!大家纷纷表示:我们的学校太令人着迷了!环境创设的特别高大上。大家对区角材料的投放,环境的创设都很感兴趣。惊叹于我园丰富的区角活动,覆盖了各个领域,相当全面,大家表示对我们的环境和区角都很欣赏,对小组化的教学和探究表示了高度的认可。The visitors spoke highly of our individualized learning corners; the corners were decorated well and full of interesting activities covering all subject areas.

除此之外,很多教育同行认为我们学校的分室活动非常丰富,尤其喜欢艺术教室和图书馆,非常赞同这两个活动室的活动能够根据每个班的课程而设计活动,小朋友每周都有很多机会到不同的活动室进行探究和学习。In addition, the education experts appreciated our special rooms – the art room and the library. These special classes are also well designed to support the curriculum. Children are given more opportunities to explore and learn outside the classrooms.

教育的核心永远是孩子,我们会一直以孩子为中心,致力于创造真诚的、充满爱的教育事业。如何将IB理念和教学环节有机地融入课堂中,如何激发孩子的能动性成为学习的主人,如何让孩子快乐的学习并具备国际视野,这都是我们不断努力和追求的目标。The core of education is always the child, we will always hold children at the center, being committed to creating a sincere, loving educational atmosphere .Our continuos efforts and goals lead us to devise ways to naturally integrate IB concept and teaching into the classroom. Inspiring children’s initiative to become the master of their own learning and making children learn happily whilst shaping their international vision.
