保育教育 Childcare, 实践活动 - English Perspective – April
April was a very busy month! We began with a short holiday and with that energy stored we were charged and ready to begin our Exhibition projects. For the K3 Exhibition unit students can choose any topic they wish to study. The class then chooses 4 of those topics for their small groups. In 4 weeks the students research the lines of inquiry and create presentation boards, make displays of information and create demonstrations. In K3A students chose the topic of Dinosaurs, Mountains, Insects and Favorite Food: Chocolate, Ice Cream & Pizza. On the final days of the Exhibition Unit the parents were invited to the classroom to see the students in action. The students talked through their information presenting what they had found. They also performed their line of inquiry demonstrations. The students did a great job!
In English, the students continued to excell in our TCRWP workshops. The students reading levels are improving rapidly and writing is getting better each week! The workshop model is proving to be one that is allowing students to work at their own pace while learning similar skills and applying them as they are ready.
April was a fun month for K2A. We wrapped up the end of the Art Unit with a fabulous show where the children’s creativity was on full display. Whether it was singing, dancing, playing the piano or displaying a craft, each child showed growth and confidence in their performances. It was touching to see how supportive the children were of each other.
We have just started the Plants Unit and the children are growing their very own bean plants. They are recording the growth process daily. They are also learning what is required for a plant to livehealthily, how plants play a role in our daily lives and why we should care for them. This is the last Unit of the K2 grade level. The children are doing great and they are continuing to show growth making the transition into K3 is a smooth one.
April has been a fun month for K1A, now that spring has arrived and brought the sunshine we have been enjoying lots of outdoor play and lessons. The students have been enjoying PE classes being back outside and our morning exercises too! We can see how much our K1 students have grown as their motor skills have improved so much, this is really evident during our PE classes when the students get the opportunity to practice with the basketballs!
During April we also concluded our third unit this term; animals. This is a wonderful unit for K1 and the students really enjoy inquiring into this topic. During their final assessment the students travelled amongst all the K1 classes sharing their knowledge of all the different animals and animal environments. We were so proud of our class. We are now moving onto our final K1 topics, colour, and are looking forward to all the fun summer is sure to bring!
